A lot has been happening behind the scenes, and we’re excited to bring you the latest updates from August, along with some highlights from the past few months. Let’s dive in and check out all the fun!

Group Updates

What have our groups been up to lately?

Weekend Socials

First up, our Bowling Club hit up Zone Bowling in Woodville for some friendly competition. It was awesome seeing everyone come out to bowl! Shane, Giovanna, Jimmy, Brian, and our Support Workers, Helen and Mandeep, had a blast trying to outscore each other. We’re super proud of Giovanna for her amazing bowling skills lately! Check out the photos from our fun day!

Next, our Weekend Warriors embarked on a Monthly Mystery Activity and visited the National Motor Museum in Birdwood. We got to check out some incredible classic cars and even play some virtual racing games! How cool is that? Brian and Andrew were thrilled to pose with their favorite cars. Meanwhile, Sam and Mitchell had a great time at the Motor Museum during their Weekend Away at Target Hill!

Then, our Weekend Warriors headed north to Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley for the Barossa Medieval Fair! It was a bit wet and muddy, but that didn’t dampen our spirits. We saw knights in action, got to pet horses and cows, and admired some amazing crafts. Who else thinks we should start dressing up for events like this?

Our Music Lovers also had a great time dancing at Club Cool and Club Unity. It’s fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves on the dance floor!

Day Options

Our Tuesday Active Adventures took us on some unique trips from Target Hill Hub. We explored the community with lovely walks and even tried out the Ninja Obstacle Course in Hayward! The park had a cool natural vibe and provided a good challenge for us. We enjoyed a nice picnic there, soaking up the sunshine.

For our Wednesday Culinary Adventures, we tried making delicious empanadas from Argentina in our “Around the World in Food” theme. We also whipped up a pasta bake and homemade honey soy chicken throughout the month. Our last Wednesday was all about Wellness Wednesday, where we made a healthy chicken and vegetable soup after a yoga session.

On Thursdays, our Community Adventures took us to various fun experiences. We kicked off the month at TTP, enjoying the arcade and bowling at Timezone. On August 8th, we had a creative Arts and Craft-ernoon at Target Hill Hub. The next week, we took a relaxing trip to Tanunda to soak up the countryside vibes. On the 22nd, we checked out the Carrick Hill Story Book Trail and enjoyed a picnic lunch in the hills. We wrapped up August with a day at the Zoo to learn about amazing animals!

Every Friday, we focused on Transport Training and Lifestyle Skills, practicing how to navigate our community, rain or shine.

Employee of the Month

We want to give a big shoutout to Support Worker Mandeep for his incredible dedication in August. With many people feeling unwell lately, Mandeep stepped up and filled in wherever needed, even working on his birthday! We really admire that kind of commitment. So, thank you, Mandeep, from all of us!

That’s all for now! We’ll catch up with you again soon. As always, if you have any updates or special news, let us know. We’re so happy to be back in action!
